Netflix’s new limited series Baby Reindeer has been gaining much attention. This dark comedy serial is the type, which will make you stick to your TV screen unless and until you’re over with it.

Is Baby Reindeer Richard Gadd’s Lifestory?

This show stars Scottish comedian Richard Gadd as their lead actor and what interests the audience most is that this story is Richard’s Life story, about a female stalker who stalked him in his twenties and the man who sexually abused him during his career grind.

Gadd, being fictionalized, is also narrating his story in the background. As twisted as the story is, Gadd has done a great job sharing his emotions with the audience.

Baby Reindeer shows how Real-life Events are not all fairy tales and how victims of sexual abuse get stuck in their trauma thinking this is who they are.

The show starts with Donny (Richard Gadd) a bartender offering a drink to a middle-aged woman to cheer her up as she enters the bar very depressed and with no money.

This one act of kindness cost them both a lot.

Gadd in the series, Baby Reindeer did not name the characters as original names, although we all know who Donny Dunn is, but who was Martha Scott?

Was Martha her real name? Is Jessica Gunning the actual portrayal of Martha?

Well, there’s very little to say in this matter as Richard Gadd explained in the interview that he kept the image of his stalker anonymous.

Surprising isn’t it? If someone who mentally and emotionally abused you, you would want to ruin their life as much, no?

But Richard made a difference here, as he’s empathetic, and he throughout, the interviews and even in the series kept saying that Martha was Unwell,

She must have gone through such traumas that made her the way she is now.

So, Donny tries to understand the emotional level of his stalker and that is what keeps him from reporting her until she attacks his partner Terri, Who is a trans woman.

The stalking kept on going for Three years, where sometimes Donny did not reach for help and other times the police wouldn’t believe him as “It was a Woman stalking a Man”.

This series ( baby reindeer) shows the naked truth of the society we live in, how the victims find shelter in the abuser’s arms, how you need to prove your trauma, and how not being a good parent can make your child a mentally disturbed stalker.

Richard (Donny Dunn) says in the series and in interviews that Martha sends him 41,000 emails and hours worth of voicemails.

One of those voicemails becomes the end of stalking in the series as Martha sends him something threatening and he reports her to the court.

But the real-life Martha was not sent to prison by Richard… Surprise Surprise

Richard said in the interview that sending someone this mentally unstable to prison was not worth it,

now this statement of his should not be twisted as psychopaths or sociopaths might deserve a chance after committing murders and abuse.

but it was just to show to pay attention to people, how they act, and why they act in such a way. Help them before they ask for help in the most tyrant way.

What makes the Baby Reindeer series a bit more engaging than any other stalker story is the behavior of the victim (Donny), how he acts around his stalker,

how he sometimes likes the person he’s around her and how he goes back to his sexual assaulter for validation and bits of success.

Yes, you read it right. Richard unravels another traumatizing event in the same series where he was Raped by his Mentor writer, his senior Darrien. He goes to his apartment to practice his scripts and Darrien tries to help Donny with the Comedy standups by gathering the attention of a small audience.

The meet-ups at Darrien’s apartment also involve drug intake by both and during Donny’s Intoxicated blackouts, Darrien sexually Abuses him.

And the shocking fact is that Donny keeps going back to him even after he knew that he was being raped by the same man.

It traumatizes him but it is not easy for the victims to leave such an environment just by keeping their awareness, you need a different type of strength to wake yourself up from such abuse.
