Bangladesh is experiencing a “Bangladesh Student Protest” which is causing tremendous political and social instability, sparked principally by widespread rallies seeking reforms to the public service quota system.
These rallies, primarily spearheaded by students, have developed into violent clashes with police and activists from the ruling Awami League and its affiliates, notably the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Jubo League.
The demonstrations began as a plea for more equitable job chances and have developed into a larger campaign criticizing the government’s approach to public sector recruiting.

In Dhaka, a large fight in the Dhanmondi region killed numerous students and injured hundreds more.
Similar violence has broken out in other regions of the nation, including Chattogram and Savar, resulting in several injuries and fatalities.
The government’s reaction has included heavy-handed methods such as the deployment of tear gas and noise grenades, and assault on protestors by governing party supporters, worsening the situation.
In reaction to the rising unrest, the administration has rescheduled the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and comparable examinations for July 21, 23, and 25, citing extensive disruption caused by the protesters.
Furthermore, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka has issued recommendations for Indian people in Bangladesh to limit their travels and be safe amid the chaos.
The political instability is however taking place in line with the ailing economic situation. The banking sector, to some extent, has been rapidly declining in Bangladesh and some of the banks are at a loss.
It increases the economic growth of the country by supporting rational uses of the marine and coastal resources attracting investment in the country’s domestic as well as foreign investment.
There are attempts to improve the availability of healthcare facilities and to achieve the sustainable development goals or the SDGs.

However, at the same time, Bangladesh is waiting for the Bhutanese King, who plans to attend the celebration of its Independence Day.
This visit will help develop the diplomatic relations between both countries and put the accent on the geographic position of Bangladesh.
The demonstrations have also been noticed by international human rights organizations and foreign governments. Amnesty International called on police actions as reckless and unwarranted while the US has called on Bangladeshi authorities to allow people to protest peacefully.
At the current moment, Bangladesh remains unsafe for foreign investors and tourists because the conflict still has the potential to escalate even further if the government and the protesters do not come to some sort of terms.
The interconnection of the political crisis economic problems and social conflict complicates a situation that means optimistic developments can be reached only through the careful actions of the leadership to bring peace to the country again.
