Helldivers 2, Steam Users Now Required to Link PSN Account – 2024
Democracy Defenders, take note: Helldivers 2 will soon necessitate Steam users to connect their accounts to PlayStation Network accounts.
The notification states that as of May 6th, all new users on Steam will need to link to a PSN account;
existing users, on the other hand, will have a little more time, as obligatory enforcement won’t take effect until June 4th.
The goal of the regulation, according to Arrowhead Game Studios, the creator of Helldivers 2, is to protect gamers from in-game abuses such as griefing.
Connecting to a PSN account has always been mandatory for Steam users.
The game’s fan base, however, isn’t buying it and is vehemently opposing the choice on Steam and social media.
The game received a deluge of scathing reviews shortly after its release; now alone, it has over 14,000 unfavorable ratings on Steam.
Even though creating a PSN account is easy and free, players nonetheless have valid complaints.
Since the PSN isn’t accessible everywhere, this action can permanently ban users from their game in some nations.
Gamers have also voiced worries regarding the safety of their personal information.
There was a data breach at Sony lately, but the stolen data was related to staff rather than customers.
