The loss of Kenneth Mitchell, who portrayed Aurellio and the Klingons Kol, Kol-Sha, and Tenavik on Star Trek:

Discovery is greatly regretted by StarTrek.com. He also provided the voices for multiple characters in a Star Trek: Lower Decks episode.

On February 24, 2024, Mitchell departed peacefully at the age of 49.

Kenneth Mitchell, who was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on November 25, 1974, starred in several movies and TV series,

playing characters including Olympic hopeful Miracle and the father of Captain Marvel’s superhero Carol Danvers. Performances on Jericho,

The Astronaut Wives Club, Ghost Whisperer, and Switched at Birth are among the other roles.

Kenneth Mitchell’s goal as Kol on Discovery was to give audiences a fresh viewpoint on Klingon culture. “Perspective and cultural understanding are the key factors in determining an individual’s goodness or badness,”

He stated to StarTrek.com in 2017. “You’ll get to know the Klingons on our show, and then people can decide if we really are the villains.”

The two children that Mitchell and his wife, Susan May Pratt, had together, survived him.

He asked that donations be made in honor of his children, Kallum and Lilah, or towards research into amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
