Ukraine Unprecedently Invades Russian Territory-2024
In what is a real shock for many, Ukraine has begun a large-scale operation to enter Russian territory, increasing the already tense conflict in the area.
This has generated a lot of fear within the international community mainly fearing a broad regional war and confusion within the architecture of the global security order.
This attack which was launched early in the morning focused on major Russian military bases and other strategic areas close to the frontier.
Ukrainian armed forces with heavy armored vehicles and precise aerial bombardment overpowered Russian forces in some axes.
Newspapers and other media sources suggest that the Ukrainian troops have even achieved impressive results in town and facility seizures.
Temporary Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke to his nation in a live broadcast, painting the invasion as an absolute necessity to finally end Russia’s hostilities that lasted for years.
“It is about time we eliminated the threat from a hostile neighbor that has been oppressing our people for years,” Zelensky said. ”Today we go to the assailant to defend our peace and freedom for our country.”
Policies imposed by world leaders have been fast and understandably cut half through. Members of NATO have demanded an extraordinary session to discuss the situation; the leaders of EU countries spoke about great concern due to the ongoing fighting.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on the other hand has threatened to retaliate with overwhelming force, accusing the Ukrainian government of recklessness and a blatant infringement of international law.
The world now sits back and waits with high expectations as this new phase in the Ukrainian-Russian conflict evolves.
This increases the likelihood of large-scale war between the two nations and the world has woken up to realize that the escalation of warfare is not limited to the two nations but has affected the whole world.
